Where your old office furniture goes after it leaves the building
Summary

Resale, refurbishment, metal recycling and what’s left — the real journey of an old office after the last truck leaves.

Clients often ask what happens to their furniture after we load it. The honest answer: most of it gets a second life, some of it becomes raw material, and a small part goes for disposal. Here's the journey.

Resale: the first choice

Good-condition workstations, cabins, conference tables and chairs are resold — mostly to smaller offices, start-ups, coaching institutes, schools and warehouses setting up admin rooms. For many small businesses, a used branded workstation is the only way to afford a professional set-up. Areas like Delhi NCR's old furniture markets exist precisely to serve that demand; our own shop is in the Old Furniture Market near the Mahamaya Flyover in Sector 94, Noida.

Refurbishment

Chairs with a failed gas lift or worn mesh are repaired: new cylinders, new mesh or upholstery, new castors. Workstation tops with minor damage are re-edged. Refurbished pieces go back into the resale stream.

Metal recycling

Steel frames, almirahs, compactors, aluminium partition sections and copper cable are separated and sold to metal recyclers. Metal is endlessly recyclable, and in a typical office it's a large share of the total weight.

Equipment and e-waste

Working ACs, UPS systems and DG sets are resold. Non-working units are dismantled for copper, aluminium and steel. Lead-acid batteries go to registered recyclers, and electronic waste is handled through authorised e-waste channels, as the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 and the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 require.

What's left

Particle board with water damage, broken gypsum and packing waste have no reuse value. This is the smallest part of a typical office, and it goes for disposal.

Why this matters to you

  • Better price: the more that can be reused, the more a buyer can pay.
  • Less waste: reuse keeps furniture out of landfill.
  • Cleaner reporting: companies with sustainability goals can record that office assets were reused or recycled.
The best-priced office clearances are also the greenest — because reuse is where the value is.
