What to list, how buyers price a lot, which building permissions to arrange, and how to make sure you are paid before the truck leaves.
Selling old office furniture sounds simple until you try it. You call three dealers, get three prices that don't match, and discover on the day that the building won't let a truck in before 10 p.m. This guide walks through the process the way it actually works in Delhi NCR, so you get a fair price and an empty floor on time.
1. Make a simple list before you call anyone
You don't need a formal asset register. A rough count by category is enough for a first conversation:
- Workstations (how many seats, and roughly what type — linear, L-shaped, cluster)
- Chairs (task, visitor, cafeteria)
- Cabins, manager tables, conference tables
- Storage — almirahs, compactors, pedestals, lockers
- Equipment — ACs, UPS and batteries, DG set, electrical panels
Add ten or fifteen clear photos taken in daylight, including one wide shot of each area. Photos of labels on chairs and workstations help a buyer recognise brands, which affects price.
2. Decide what you are keeping
Offices moving to a new address often keep the newest chairs or the director's cabin. Tag those items with tape or list them before the site visit. It avoids arguments on loading day and lets the buyer price the rest accurately.
3. Get a site visit, not just a phone quote
A WhatsApp price from photos is useful as a range, but condition and access change the number. A proper buyer will visit, check the furniture, and look at the lift, the loading bay and the building rules. At Adarsh Old Office Furniture Buyer we visit Noida sites the same day in most cases, and Delhi and Gurugram within a day or two.
4. Understand how the offer is built
Buyers price old furniture on two things: what it will resell for, and what it costs to dismantle and move. A floor of matching branded workstations near a goods lift is worth much more than the same seats spread across three floors of a building with no lift. We explain the factors in detail in what decides the price of used office furniture.
Ask for one written figure that includes dismantling, loading and transport. If a buyer quotes "per piece" and plans to deduct labour on the day, you won't know what you'll actually receive.
5. Sort out the building's paperwork early
Commercial towers in Noida and Gurugram almost always need some combination of:
- A vendor or contractor registration with the facility team
- A list of workers with ID proof
- Lift booking and floor protection
- A material gate pass signed by your company
- Night-only heavy movement
Start these a few days in advance. We cover the details city by city in our post on gate passes, lift bookings and night work.
6. Agree payment terms before dismantling starts
The safest arrangement is payment before the material leaves the premises — cash, UPI or bank transfer. For large lots, some companies prefer an advance at the start and the balance as the last truck loads. Get a purchase receipt listing the items and amount; your finance team will want it for asset write-off.
One written figure, one crew, payment before the truck leaves. If a buyer can't commit to those three, keep looking.
7. Plan for what nobody buys
Gypsum partitions, broken ceiling tiles and packing waste have no value, but they still have to go. If you also need the space emptied to a bare shell, it's usually cheaper to give the whole job to one team that both dismantles and buys, so the value of the furniture offsets the cost of clearing the rest.
A quick timeline that works
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| 3–4 weeks before handover | List items, take photos, call two or three buyers |
| 2–3 weeks before | Site visits and written offers; internal approval for the asset sale |
| 1–2 weeks before | Building permissions, gate pass, dates fixed |
| Final week | Dismantling, loading, payment and broom-clean handover |
If you are short on time, call anyway. We have cleared offices with less than a week's notice — it just needs quicker decisions on your side.
Quick questions
How much do buyers pay for old office furniture in Delhi NCR?
There is no fixed rate card. The price depends on quantity, condition, brand, and how hard the furniture is to dismantle and move. A site visit gives a firm figure; photos on WhatsApp give a rough range.
Can I sell office furniture without a site visit?
For small lots, sometimes. For a full office, a site visit protects you — it fixes the price in writing and avoids deductions on loading day.
